The packaging rules for each qualification are flexible enough to meet the requirements of many different markets, locations, businesses and learner needs. Training includes specialist fields as well as common skills and knowledge that can be contextualised to meet the needs of a particular industry, company and/or role.
Students who complete a Certificate IV or Diploma within the Business Services range below are provided a foundation for further studies at a higher level.
Business Development includes areas of advertising, sales and marketing as well as common skills and knowledge required in a range of business settings. Students who complete the Certificate IV in Business Development are equipped for business development positions with some level of supervisory responsibility. At Diploma level the training outcomes suit management roles and further develop specialist skills and knowledge. The packaging rules allow for mixing and matching of units to reflect the varied functions and essential skills in business development.
The Human Resources domain reflects ongoing fundamental changes in the work of Human Resource Managers in all areas of business driven by new technology and changing work practices and expectations.
The units cover aspects such as recruitment, performance management, providing services, induction, rehabilitation programs, Human Resources policies, information systems, mediation, industrial relations, and remuneration and employee benefits.
Students who complete the Certificate IV in Business Management are equipped for positions with co-ordination/management responsibilities in a range of Business settings. The packaging rules for this qualification offer flexibility in the choice of units providing the opportunity to import units to suit most industry sectors.
The roles of frontline managers vary according to the organisation and the scope of their position. Workers with this qualification could be team leaders, supervisors, front desk managers, line managers in a wide range of organisations across the full diversity of Australian business, for example manufacturing, hospitality and retail.
Students who complete the Cert IV in Business (Small Business Management) are equipped for operating their own small business or taking on a managerial position within a small business. The eight core units add to flexible choices in the learning and development of skill and knowledge required in small business. The qualification covers establishing a business, financial and business planning, team management, and managing operations and finances.
Skills and knowledge relevant to business administration are reflected both in units in the common business fields and in the domain of specialist administration. The specialist units reflect the diversity of administrative work and variety of skills and knowledge required by administrative worker.
Roles that suit these qualifications could include administrative officer, general office manager, executive personal assistants and business managers.

Qualifications and short courses offered under the Financial Services Training Package are designed to develop skills and knowledge in the many sectoral lines within the industry. Short courses can be undertaken alone to meet ASIC training requirements under PS146 or as part of a qualification.
The packaging rules for each qualification are simple and flexible enough to allow choices that suit a variety of sectors and roles from entry level through to management.
Completing the ASIC Tier 2 compliance units will enable you to provide advice at Tier 2 level. The ASIC Tier 2 Short Course provides a foundation for completing the Certificate III in Financial Services or Certificate IV in Financial Services.
Completing the appropriate ASIC electives will enable you to provide advice at Tier 1 level. The ASIC Tier 1 Short Course provides a foundation for completing the Diploma of Financial Services.
This qualification is designed to reflect the role of entry level employees working across the entire financial services spectrum who perform duties such as:
• responding to customer enquiries
• maintaining financial records
• performing clerical duties
• applying fundamental skills in broking, distribution, banking, credit management and retail financial services
Students who complete the Certificate III in Financial Services are equipped for roles such as:
• Insurance Officer (Tier 2 level), and
• Other roles where duties include providing advice at Tier 2 level.
Many of the Certificate III units are prerequisites for competency at higher levels and provide a foundation for further studies at Certificate IV or Diploma level.
Undertaking training in a Certificate IV in Financial Services prepares you for roles in industries such as:
• Loss Adjusting and Insurance Services, and
• Other industries requiring Tier 2 Accreditation
The Certificate IV in Financial Services provides a foundation for further studies at Diploma level in any of the Financial Services streams. Many of the Certificate IV units are prerequisites for competency at higher levels.
Students who complete the Certificate IV in Financial Services are equipped for responsibilities such as financial operations, compliance monitoring, team leader, technical officer and may supervise those in a role equivalent to Certificate III level. Those completing the ASIC electives will also be able to provide advice at Tier 2 level.
The Diploma of Financial Services offers training across a spectrum of sectors in the industry. Those completing the appropriate ASIC electives will also be able to provide advice at Tier 1 level.
Students who complete the Diploma of Financial Services are equipped for managerial roles within their chosen financial services sector/area. Electives are chosen to suit individual training needs and to enhance skills required to perform duties such as:
• managing customer/client services
• managing financial and business processes
• managing a branch/section
• managing advisory/distribution services
The Diploma of Financial Services provides a foundation for further studies at Advanced Diploma level or may lead to further study through a Higher Education Institution.
